I've already blown my movie budget out of the water. Rise of the Planet of the Apes is oh so intriguing.

Super 8 us pretty good. I wouldn't pass CA for it.

Anyone see CA in 3d? And would you recommend it 3G?

I'll see Captain America in time. I did end up seeing Super 8.
I was impressed. I can see why Speilberg didn't direct - as everyone has mentioned it has definite similarities to his previous works. That can be said about most films. There are few truly original ideas left.

The story in Super 8 is great and not entirely derivative. The time period really hit home with me. The film is set in 1979. I was in junior high, the age of the characters during that period in time. And it's almost fitting that Speilberg was building his legend during this period.

(Click to show/hide)

Anyways, enough reminiscing.

In the same vein I have always been the biggest Planet of the Apes fan. I remember owning all the toys as a kid and seeing all of the movies. So I am counting the days. I hope this is the beginning of a series of films. I haven't heard of plans. So I am sure they are waiting to see how well it does at the box office. My guess is that it will do well regardless of the critics much like the Transformers series but I'm sure good word of mouth won't hurt.

Rise of the Apes is getting 81% at Rottentomatoes. That's pretty damn good.

I read a solid review of it at Aintitcoolnews.com

Might have to see this in the next day or two.

Leaving 20 minutes before show time?  You'll probably be laying on the floor in front of the screen!

Good Seats - movie theater is only 5 minutes away.....I really enjoyed the movie and so did my wife - to my suprise. My daughter liked it as well - I found myself (and I think everyone in the theater) rooting for the apes!

When you see the movie - make sure you pay attention - there are lots of subtle things and hints going on - in fact one didn't hit me until I was driving home and discussing the original with my wife (she has never seen it)....so pay close attention - we can discuss these hints etc in future posts - I don't want to give away any spoilers - even hidden ones.

Saw it tonight.   Very good table setting for a revived series of films.  Sirkis is a genius.

Took Jake to see Moneyball on SAT. We both absolutely loved it. I highly recommend it. Even if your not a Baseball fan.

Brad Pit and Jona Hill are excellent in the flick.

I wish I would have seen this in the theaters. DVD/BluRay release date isn't until Jan. 10. That's a bummer.

What have I seen lately from the Redbox? Oh, I rented Thor and Conan the Barbarian on the same night. Conan thoroughly dominated. if you're into the whole RPG and MMO thing, you know who you are, you're going to dig Conan. Thor was a bit of a bore. Hey that rhymed.

This thread needs to be posted in again...
I saw The Cabin in the Woods today on account of the fact that it's written and produced by The Man himself (otherwise known as Joss Whedon) and it was absolutely awesome.  I won't say much about it so as not to spoil anything for those who haven't seen it, but it was truly incredible.  If you're a fan of the horror genre you're bound to love this movie.

Also, last week I saw American Reunion.  The movie was extremely funny and entertaining, but I can see some people being turned off by the fact that it's pretty dumb at times.  Personally I didn't mind those moments as they were still funny, but it's definitely not for everyone.
While I liked American Reunion, it doesn't come even compare to The Cabin in the Woods though.

Was debating about going to go see American Reunion. The wife and I watched the ones before, we are about the same as the characters, and always thought they were funny. Wasn't sure if we should go see it or not. Will probably get her to go see it wit me now. Its one the only stupid crude humor movies I could get her to see.

Just came from seeing Cabin in the Woods.  Great film if you like the horror genre.  Cool concept, creative story with an interesting ending.  Excellent and surprising casting.  Recommended.

I just saw Wrath of the Titans in Imax 3D. My wife loves seeing these type of movies. The movie itself was alright; typical action quest movie. This was the first I've seen in Imax 3D. I've seen some in Real 3D. The picture quality and effects in Imax 3D were spectacular. I actually flinched twice from objects coming at me. If you have a chance to see this; I recomend it fully.

Just went to see The Avengers (in theaters next week in the US Tongue), and all I can say is... wow.

I'm not gonna give anything away here, as I expect most of you to go see it in theaters anyways.

It was funny, intelligently written with intelligent characters, well balanced, and grabs you right from the get go.

The movie starts in the S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters where the cube used by the Red Skull appears to have a mind of it's own. The results of this acting up leads to Nick Fury calling on four superheroes (Steve Rogers [Capt. America], Tony Stark [Iron Man], Bruce Banner, Natasha Romanov [Black Widow]) to deal with the consequences and with a few unlikely foes.

The characters all get a small introduction, with some very well integrated footage from the earlier films shown on screens in the background.

Lots of nice references to other movies (look for Harry Dean Stanton in a small cameo) and gentle poking fun of the characters themselves.

The film's got a nice pace, but not breakneck like most action movies today. Time is taken to make sure you get involved with these characters, and understand their interactions and motivations.

Definitely one of the better movies I've seen in a long time. Had me leaving the cinema with a big grin on my face Smiley.

I enjoyed seeing the Avengers grow into one unified fighting team. The Hulk, well, he stole the movie imo. The fight with Thor...............holy sh%t...........

I watched the new Underworld movie this weekend. I kind of enjoy those movies, but really enjoy Kate Beckinsale in that outfit for 90 minutes.  Worth it IMO.
