Watched it again, those are DEFINITELY the "Howling Commandos" backing him up as he busts through the doors. I recognize the bowler hat and cigar.

How can you not be excited about this flick..........I just hope they don't f$%k it up. I hope GL is good, but I do have my concerns. I think the movie with the least room for error is Thor. I can see that one being really bad (but I hope not). I have no interest in the Prequel to the X-men. Not after the Wolverine Garbage flick they put out (I hear their re doing that one though, the right way, we will see). B

It may well be good. The trailer, though, just didn't do anything for me. I'll give it another watch at some point and see if I missed something, but I figure if it didn't do anything for me on the big screen, it probably won't at home.

Saw Thor on Friday. Liked it a lot. Liked the allusion to the Hawkeye character they made in the movie. The actress who played Sif seemed vaguely familiar, too . . .

I forgot to come back and review it. I would give it 3 stars. Over all I liked it a lot. Acting was solid. The best fight scene was the first act. That kind of sucked. The other two primary fight scenes were over way to quickly.

Did either of you see it in 3d or just standard 2d?

Forgot to review Source Code. Its a pretty good sci fi flick that revolves more around story/acting than special effect. I definitely recommend it.

I do remember remarking to my daughter that the movie had a different "feel" to it, because of the 3D.

I find I enjoy 2D movies more than 3D.
I can't get used to the fact that the filmmaker decides what i should be focussing on. In 2D that's not a problem, but in 3D my brain tells my eyes they're not trying hard enough.

I watched a couple of movies on my days off.
CovlerField-I liked it. The hand held camera thing didn't bother me at all.
Rambo-It was much better than I had anticipated. I loved the first one, its a classic for me. I watched the second Rambo flick and that caused me to give up on them. This one though, wow.........Pure unalderated violence. If you like action flicks this is a good flick for you.
Both movies were 90 minutes long. I love that in a movie. I hate 2.5 hr movies.
B
Dude!!!!! I didn't think anyone else loved the first one like I did! I've watched First Blood over 100 times. Wore out the VHS copy I had before DVD players were available, lol. I still haven't seen Rambo because of the fact that none of them have had a leg to stand on compared to the first one.

I don't know . . . I thought the subtlety Cameron showed in Avatar was what made the 3D effect so enthralling. The first time Jake sees the forest "jellyfish" thingys was fantastic. It took me a second to actually realize what was causing my wonderment, and then it 'clicked' for me. Thor had a few moments like that, too, and none of the cliched 3D stuff you might expect. At least, not so much that I got sick of it.
Overall, 2D will not STOP me from seeing a film in the theatre. I just think that, done right, 3D can be a nice addition/upgrade to a film. Much like CGI has improved the "reality" of certain effects.

I'll give you Avatar on that one. That movie suited the 3D platform well, however many of the newer ones jumping on the 3D band wagon are completely and utterly useless for 3D.

I think Avatar was fine, as long as you didn't pay attention to the plot, which has been done a million times before.

I've noted that I wasn't impressed with the Avatar either. I expected a lot more. On the other hand I didn't think I would like Tron:Legacy mostly because I didn't like the original (as much as I remember of it) but I enjoyed Legacy. even though the end of the film lagged as they made their final escape. I'm sure it had a lot to do with Olivia Wilde and Jeff Bridges and the Buddhist undertones. And I'm expecting a lot from Captain Amercia but maybe I should just chill out so I'm not disappointed in the end.

I have seen Hangover 2. I thought it was good. It was very similar plot wise to the first one but still very funny. I went in with the expectation that it would not be as good as the first one but would still be really funny, and that was accurate.

Thanks for the HU on Green Lantern . . . had heard similar. Very disappointing . . . why is it that DC cannot seem to get their act together? They have some very interesting titles, but their mainstream heroes do not seem to have had much success on the big screen. Even Daredevil got better treatment, it seems.

Agreed, Unknown wasn't bad. It was predictable though. Had it pegged from the outset. The action was good. Adjustment Bureau - gotta love P.K. Dick. Such an imagination.

Okay, stipulated. But you have to agree that prior to the Chris Bale Batman, pretty much all DC movies sucked with the exception of the Chris Reeve Superman.

First Batman didn't suck in my book. And "Chris Reeve Superman" = 4 movies, 2 of which sucked, 2 of which did not suck. Which reminds me...I need to see that cut of Superman II.

It is your patriotic duty to go see Captain America. Knock that silly wizard brat off his perch . . . Super 8 is a movie we've all seen before. Oh sure, they may have changed the names, etc., but it's the same flick.

We saw CA in regular - not paying the extra $ for 3D - plus the local theater we saw it in didn't have it in 3D as an option and I wasn't driving extra with gas prices as they are - local movie theater is 4 miles not 15-20.

Just got back from the movie. Saw it in 3-D, though no intentionally. Comments relate to the movie only, you all know what to expect from 3-D these days, right? Here goes: WOW !!!
This is, without a doubt, the BEST of the origin story films. They got EVERYTHING right. Had him using the original shield, the red and white stripes only on the front of the uniform, the web harness of a regular trooper . . . EVERYTHING.
I also LOVED Hugo Weaving as the Red Skull. Does this guy ever do a bad job? The support cast was top notch, as well. The story line is straight out of the beginning of the Captain America milieu (naturally) and works very well. The only quibble might be with how he ends up frozen in the ice. You'll see what I mean when you watch it. Really loved the final line of the film, though. This gets 5/5 from me, but I am a fan-boy for CA. The after credits teaser did not advance any plot lines for the upcoming Avengers film, but was well worth the wait.

TSF: Remind your little girl that, in the comics at least, Steve meets her daughter and they fall in love. For the film timeline, it would probably be her grand-daughter, but w/e. But what did you think of the flick?

TSF: Remind your little girl that, in the comics at least, Steve meets her daughter and they fall in love. For the film timeline, it would probably be her grand-daughter, but w/e. But what did you think of the flick? My son and I loved it - I thought it was very well done in all aspects. My daughter liked it more than she thought she would and my wife was like "whatever"....bad thing is I will drag her to see Rise of the Planet of the Apes in two weeks.

We loved CA. The frozen in ice was meh.........but f$%k it, if that is the worse part of the movie, I'm very satisfied. I loved the character itself, how he wasn't a smart ass, arrogant, or a prick. Just a good ole Super Hero that wanted to do what was right (even if it meant killing some Nazi's).
I loved when his best friend plummeted to his death.
The bitch is damn hot........I wanted to rip that red dress right off of her.
I could have done without the part of him performing for bonds. It took away from the action.
Hugo is DA MAN!!!! I can't wait to see it again!!
