Standard Rules for 'Reply' Giveaways

These rules are used by various "reply" giveaways in this forum.

The first (x) number of members to reply in that thread are eligible to win. Only one reply per member per thread is allowed. Posting more than one reply in a thread automatically results in all that member's replies being ruled ineligible.

After enough replies have been posted, the thread will be closed and locked. We will use the reply # contained in your reply and a future Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) closing quote to determine the winner(s) of the giveaway.

You win the giveaway if your reply # matches the last two or three numbers of the DJIA close - the number before the decimal and/or the two numbers after the decimal. For example, if the DJIA close is 10303.29 - reply #329 wins the giveaway. The DJIA close that we will use is the one posted at the Wall Street Journal website located at http://online.wsj.com/public/us. I will take a snaphot of that page after the markets close and the DJIA closing quote that is shown, whether correct or not, will be the number used for the giveaway.

Giveaways with less than 101 replies will use the last two numbers of the DJIA close and giveaways with more than 100 replies will use the last three numbers of the DJIA close.

The NASDAQ and/or S&P closing quote (as shown on the same WSJ website) may sometimes be used instead of the DJIA.
